Description:

Avro Lancaster B.II

Due to shortage of Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, some 300 Lancasters were built with Bristol Hercules radial engines, becoming the B.II Variant.

Some were also fitted with enlarged bomb-bay doors to enable large 8000lb bombs to be carried, as well as a ventral defensive turret.

– A – ‘Z-Zombie’, No.408 (Goose) Squadron, 6 Group, Royal Canadian Air Force, Royal Air Force Linton-on-Ouse, Yorkshire, July 1944
– B – ‘Fanny Ferkin II’ No.514 Squadron, 3 Group, Royal Air Force Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, November 1944
