F9F-4 Panther

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. Grumman F9F Panther fighter-bomber carrier based. F9F-4 and F9F-5 were visually equal but powered by different engines.

During its relative short life in the number of releases under Matchbox, F9F Panther had three different box layouts for the PK-124 code number, with a decal change in the 1982 release, plus the later Matchbox – 40153 – Grumman F9F-4/5 Panther. Initially released as F9F-4 Panther, later was named F9F-5 Panther “Blue Angels” and back to F9F-4 Panther in the 1985 release.

All the time, the kit can be a F9F-4 or F9F-5 variant, since they are visually equal, and always included two markings, one U.S. Marine Corps and one U.S. Navy “Blue Angels”, but the markings were updated in 1983 as we said.

The kit was also released as Revell in year 2009 with code number 04286.
