AV-8A HARRIER

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a AV-8A HARRIER including decals for both RAF or U.S. Marine corps, primary users of the famous V/STOL ground-attack aircraft. 8A version was the specific built version for the U.S. Marine corps.

This is a classic Hasegawa kit, tooled in 1969 and initially released just as Hawker Siddeley Harrier. As common at the time, panel lines are raised, canopy only has closed option and cockpit detail is very basic.

The kit only had decal, code numbers and boxes changes during its long life, it was updated by time in 2018 as part of the Area 88 Anime series kit releases, and in the regular line, from 1999 to 2009 kept the reference B10, and used two code numbers 00240 and 01240 with the decal sheet comment above, without further changes since then, 2009, being still available with this content.

As any other kit with raised panel lines it plans the question of what to do when you have to fill and sand some join, and in the sand process some raised line is sanded too, some people just even engrave all the kit, i just prefer a fine engrave on the gone lines. The final aspect will depend on your techniques, if you pre-shadow lines, the mix will work, but try to be as much careful as possible sanding to avoid damage lines.

This kit is an old and basic detailed kit, but if well priced, it’s still buildable. The best kit available for a AV-8A is the Airfix kit A04057.
