SOC-3 SEAGULL SEAPLANE
“BATTLESHIP USS PENNSYLVANIA”

Unassembled plastic model kits in 1/72 scale of two Curtiss SOC Seagull , an scout observation aircraft which served onboard of battleships and cruisers using a seaplane configuration. Launched from catapult and recovered with cranes from sea landings. For 1941 it was replaced by Vought OS2U Kingfisher but was back in service of the Cruisers after the SO3C Seamew failure, remaining operative for the rest of the war.

Double kit box, contains two equal models inside. Includes decal sheet with two markings, one of them pre-war scheme, distinguishable by the yellow upper wing. Bot markings belonging to aircrafts on board of the USS Pennsylvania.

The USS Pennsylvania (the lead ship of the Pennsylvania class of super-dreadnought battleships) was commissioned in 1916 and decommissioned just after the war (WWII) in 1946. It was used during the nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll and scuttled off in 1948. It was in Pearl Harbour in 1941, but luckily in drydock for reparations, which prevented it of suffer important damage during the Japanese attack. A battleship like Pennsylvania had two catapults and carried two floatplanes.
