Description:

The B-24 Liberator was one of the best known American long-range bombers, widely used during World War II, together with its companion and rival, the B-17 Flying Fortress. It can be recognised thanks to its “double drift” tail. It was designed and built by Consolidated at the beginning of the 1940’s. The B-24 D was the first bombing version constructed on a large scale from 1942, with almost 3,000 units built during the conflict. Powered by 4 Pratt & Whitney R-1830-43 1,200hp engines, with Hamilton-Standard propellers which pushed it to a maximum speed of 467 km/h, it disposed of an offensive payload of over 3,600 kg in bombs. It was used on all fronts, both in Europe and in the Pacific.
