Description:
P-51A Mustang
Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. North American P-51 Mustang WWII fighter aircraft. The P-51 was built in over 15.000 units and was the backbone of the U.S. fighters squadrons in the European theatre. In the Pacific theatre P-51s arrived in 1944 and in major numbers once the war in Europe was over.
The P-51A (In British service Mustang II) used an Allison engine with a three-bladed propeller. The main armament was four .50 in (12.7 mm) Browning machine guns, two in each wing. The version added also wings racks for 75 or 150 US gal drop tanks extending their range.
An original Italeri kit tooled for first time in 1997, as “F-51D” version. The next year, parts were added to create the P-51 (P-51A) as this “new” box contains.
Kit includes decal sheet with 6 markings, including one RAF and one RNAS (Royal Navy Air Service).
