Description:

PB4Y-2 Privateer

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. WWII Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer a maritime patrol and bomber aircraft developed from the Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber. They both are externally very similar but PB4Y has a longer fuselage and had a tall single vertical stabilizer rather than the B-24’s twin tail.

And original Matchbox kit tooled in 1980 and released two more times in 1982 and 1992. The kit always kept a decal sheet with 3 markings, one Canadian, French and U.S. Navy.

Originally in 1980, the kit also was entitled as Liberator RY3 (C.Mk.IX), for the Canadian variant designated, but in the later releases it was titled just PB4Y-2 Privateer. Revell re-released this kit with new decals in the year 2009, as code number 04292.

It remains as the only ever released plastic injection kit in 1/72 scale of the PB4Y-2 Privateer.

1980 release box layout.
