Description:

AH-64A Apache

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. Boeing AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, introduced in mid 80s after more of a decade of tests and develops. A variant, AH-64A, was the initial production version, pure attack helicopter which saw action during the Gulf War, operation Desert Storm in 1991 (In 1990 A variants upgraded their engine).

ESCI tooled this kit in 1988, for that time there was already an interesting competence about the AH-64A variant, already tooled by Hasegawa (tooled before officially entered in service), Italeri, Academy/Minicraft or Monogram (Snap tite kit). The ESCI kit did not improve the existing models and was not a great success on sales. Only AMT/Ertl repacked it in the U.S. the ESCI kit. Today it’s just a collectors kit. The Apache AH-64 in 1/72 scale has a lot of options to choose from, but community mostly agree that both Academy and Hasegawa are the best ones. Academy retooled the A version in 1993 (See Academy Hobby Models – 12488 – AH-64A), and Hasegawa did the same one year before (nowadays Hasegawa – 00436 (D6) – AH-64A APACHE), being both considered the best A variants, with Hasegawa sightly ahead.
