Description:

Imperial Japanese Navy Submarine C-3 (class) I-53 with Kaiten “Kamikaze” Torpedoes

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a Japanese WW2 submarine I-53 of Type C3 class. The type entered service in May 1944, transformed into a Kaiten kamikaze torpedos carrier (Up to five of them), which are also included in the kit.

Kit features over 300 parts, includes some metal detail part, vinyl and the main plastic ones (Looks like when brand advices about over 300 parts they are included the screws provided for some of the parts as main hull). Once built measures over 148cm.

Despite of being an impressive 1/72 scale model and the only for this type of Japanese submarine, it has several inaccuracies which are hard to correct, as overall shape of the bow, curved down, as well as the front lower part of the sail. Some of the hatches are also over sized. The curved bow, is specially something very hard, if not impossible, to fix. At the time Eduard produced some detail parts upgrades for this kit, but they are very hard to find nowadays.
