Description:

Analog A-144-2 (MiG21 prototype #2)

The A-144-2 was a special modification of the MiG-21, designed to study the flight performance of the “tailless” aircraft and the airflow of the ogival wing. For this reason, the wing consoles were covered by thousands of thin silk threads, which movements during the flight have been captured by high speed cameras. The A-144-2 became a trainer for the crew of the Tupolev Tu-144 Supersonic passenger aircraft.
