D variant nicknamed Dora, or Long-Nose Dora (“Langnasen-Dora”) was a high altitude optimized performance A variant. Devenir of the war forced them most of the times to not be employed in its interceptor role.

During following days the brand has been sharing details about these comings kits that really looks awesome. We are writing this to summarize in a single site all the details of the series.

The brand will release initially two kits, IBG – 72531 – Focke-Wulf FW 190D-9 Cottbus (Early Production) and IBG – 72540 – Focke-Wulf FW 190D-15 Torpedo Bomber.

The second batch, includes two new D-9 variants, IBG Models – 72536 – FW 190D-9 Mimetall and IBG Models – 72545 – FW 190D-9 Over Czech Lands.

Features per variant

Propeller blades, engines, machine guns, canopies and other differences between variants are offered and properly moulded.

Specific payload for each version

FW-190 was used with a lot of different purposes, interceptor, fighter or ground attack, so a great different payload was carried under wings or fuselage, including some “exotic” weapons such the guided (and unguided) air-to-air missiles plus some more conventional bombs or the BT-400 torpedo. Also a number of different external fuel tanks were used.

The series will offer a huge variety of weapons payload.

Engines

Two different engines will be used, with a total of 5 optional variants, the Daimler-Benz DB 603 inverted V12 powerplant and the Junkers Jumo 213.

Propeller Blades

Different propeller blades for each version D-9, 12/13, 11 and 14/15.

Fuselage Covers

The series will provide up to 6 different fuselage covers depending on the variant, and for the D-9 variant, three options with sightly differences depending on the early/late and manufacturer plant.

IBG – 72531 – Focke-Wulf FW 190D-9 Cottbus (Early Production)

First release of the series will be the Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 (Early), below all the plastic sprues the kit will contains. It also will include a PE detail parts sheet. D-9 was the basis for the develop of the Focke-Wulf Ta 152, and was mostly used as fighter-to-fighter and ground attack rather than heavy bombers interceptor. One of the main differences between early or late production was canopy type.

IBG – 72540 – Focke-Wulf FW 190D-15 Torpedo Bomber

Second release of the series will be for the D-15 variant, a conversion to use the DB 603 engine started in January 1945. It’s assumed that at least one prototype was completed before the end of the war.
