1687 units were produced between 1942-1943 of version G. Some of them were equipped with flaps and additional armor plates on the front of the chassis and the turret. The armored Panzer IV was the most widely produced during the war, exported to many countries, including Spain, and its chassis was also used as a basis for more than a few anti-tank vehicles, self-propelled artillery and other specialized vehicles. After the war many were sold to Syria, and participated in the 1967 war with Israel, the six days war.

Designed to be a infantry support tank, soon replaced the Panzer III in armored warfare functions, and models with 75 mm cannon above 1942, it gave for a short time the hegemony in armored warfare to the Panzer IV.

Altaya’s model is as always a bit basic, especially the finish. On the front of the turret there are horrible gaps between the pieces, worthy of being covered with filler, side mirrors at driver’s area have been painted, and then hidden for me. There are photos of the original model, and some of the model after washing and a bit of drybrush, and have covered the holes with filler pieces.
