This kit is a variation of kit ESCI – 8301 – 8069 – Leopard 1A2, see the parent kit for comments about it.

This kit adds extra parts for the spaced armour on turret and mantlet, a solution issued by Blohm & Voss to improve the weak turret armour. The large box over the gun mantlet depicted in the box art is a PZB 200 image intensification system, which in fact is a feature of the A1A2 issued after 1980, and not A1A1 as the box states.
