1/72 ACE – 72263 – ADGZ M 35 Mittleren Panzerwagen with T-26 turret (S-Model – 720033 – T26 model 1933) Field Modification

History

Atak_na_Polską_Pocztę_w_Gdańsku_1.09.1939
An ADGZ covers SS troops duringan attack on the Polish Post Office inDanzig, 1 September 1939

The Austrian army was using the ADGZ armored car at the time of Anschluss. 12 were used by the army and 15 were used by the police. The Germans used them for police work and some were taken on by the SS and used on the Eastern front and in the Balkans.

The SS ordered an additional 25 ADGZ which were delivered in 1942. An interesting feature of this vehicle was that there was no “rear:” either end was capable of driving the unit.

As part of the initial operations of the Invasion of Poland, the SS Heimwehr Danzig used three ADGZ armored cars during the attack on the Polish Post Office in Danzig, and lost one during the battle.

After the invasion of the USSR a few ADGZ armored cars were rearmed with turrets from the Soviet T-26 model 1933 light tank.

About kit:

Kit quality is lika all ACE

Like all kits of “ACE” this set is rather complicated to assemble. Most of the details in the burrs. Release from burrs captivity account for almost all the details. Unlike the hull of  “ACE” kit, turret (s-model) of the T-26 is made very high quality. With assembly of  the turret had no problems. Barrels of machineguns that were in the kit had to throw in the trash. They have been replaced by metal from “Mini World”. Camouflage I used a standard early brown and gray.

The model was painted with artistic acrylic paint , MIG pigments and artistic oil.

GAZ 61-73 (First comfortable 4×4 SUV with hardtop)

History
GAZ-61 – a family of Soviet light terrain vehicles with all-wheel drive. Modification of GAZ-61-73 – the world’s first all-wheel drive car with a closed sedan. During the Great Patriotic War, the GAZ-61-73 was actively used as a staff car for the high command of the Red Army.

About kit:
Kit quality is terrible and it is a fact.

Like all kits of “ACE” this set is rather complicated to assemble. Most of the details in the burrs. Release from burrs captivity account for almost all the details. For this reason, to achieve a perfectly flat surface is very difficult. Front wheel axle is too low, so I had to remake it to lift clearance. The model is very small and it is very difficult to putty. In a kit there is no glass. A drawing in the instructions of the wrong size. The only plus is the presence of a nice photo-etching.

I’ve been thinking whether to paint in green or make camouflage . That was to fun i make camouflage “omeba.”

The model was painted with artistic acrylic paint , MIG pigments and artistic oil.

1/72 – ACE – 72130 – BREM-2 (БРЭМ-2)

BREM-2

Some history:

ARV-2 – Soviet Armoured recovery vehicle, created based on the BMP-1.ARV-2 is designed in Design and Engineering Center of the USSR Defense Ministry in Kiev. Issued on the basis of requiring overhaul of BMP-1.The machine is intended for emergency evacuation infantry fighting vehicles.

About kit:

This kit as all other kits of “ACE” very hard to assemble. Main problem is the amount of burrs and sink marks. The most difficult thing in this set is a truck.
Because of the poor quality of casting has to mess that would free them from the burr.

Eventually pulled from the kit all that I could. Add a little additions of tin, wire, etc.
The model makes the old and used.

The model was painted with artistic acrylic paint , MIG pigments and artistic oil.

First to Fight – 03 – Polish C2P Tractor + ACE – 72533 – Wz.36 (Done)

The artillery tractor C2P was based on modified chassis of TKS tankette. The production began in 1937 and more than 200 (270?) were completed.
In Polish Army C2P tractors were used only for towing 40mm wz.36 Bofors AA-guns and ammunition trailers. Some captured were later used by Germans.

Few words about kit.

Model of the Polish company “first to fight” first time I held in my hands. Casting quality is very high. The model consists minimum of parts. As for me price $ 9 a little too big for such a tiny model with so minimum of details. In addition, the set has no decals and glazing (glass on the photo I made of transparent plastic). In the box lay a beautiful book with information about machine. Assembly instructions and camouflage scheme.

Nothing more to say about this kit.

Wz.36 its The Bofors 37 mm gun was an anti-tank gun designed by Swedish manufacturer Bofors in the early 1930s. Licensed copies were produced in a number of countries. The gun was used by some European armies during World War II, mainly at the early stage of the war.

According to the rule this tractor transported  AA  Bofors 40mm . But I wanted to be a 37mm Bofors anti tank gun. Different happens at war.

Few words about Bofors kit.

To my surprise the quality of this set of “ACE” was great. There was no sink marks and burrs. The set is very neat and does not require any modifications.

As usual, everything was painted with artistic acrylic, oil and MIG pigments.

1/72 – ACE (72294) – Flak 103/38 “Jaboschreck” + RODEN (715) – Opel Maultier

Opel Maultier + Flak 103/38

The 3cm Flak 38/103 Jaboschreck was based on MK 103 aircraft cannon, it only went into production in small numbers before the end of the war.
Some picture shows this gun mounted in soft vehicles such Steyr Type 2000A, but we haven’t found any evidence of it mounted on an Opel Maultier, so this works is also a sort of “What If”, while quite possible.

1/72 ACE – 72127 – BTR-ZD Airborbne AD vehicle “Screzhet” ( eng. Gritting) – InBox Review

1

Some history:
BTR-ZD “Skrezhet” (ZD stands for Zenitno Desantnyi) – BTR-D airborne troop carrier converted into an airborne air defence vehicle for carrying two MANPAD teams. The vehicle is fitted with racks for spare MANPAD missiles. It also is fitted with external stowage rails for a MANPAD on the right hand side of the roof of the troop compartment. It can also carry a complete ZU-23-2 twin anti-aircraft auto-cannon mount on the roof of the troop compartment.

As in  my country modellers says “ACE is not for pussies, it is for iron cocks”

This kit as all other kits of “ACE” very hard to assemble. Main problem is the amount of burrs and sink marks. But I must say that if the previous kits were on my rate like 4 from 10, and the last of a series BMP, BMD improved quality (where that 6 from 10)

I am glad that this set is the presence of vinyl tracks and some etching.

And for those who still believes that the kits of “ACE”  not for them ( because of the quality ), I must say that 80% kits of this company will never be released by other companies in Braille scale 😉

1/72 ACE – 72412 – Panhard AML-60 , Spanish Navy Marines (Finished Model)

History
During the 1950s, the French Army used the Daimler Ferret in large numbers but decided to build their own armoured car and Panhard started the production of the AML in 1960. Since then over 4000 vehicles have been completed and manufacture continues for the export market. The AML 60/90 have been sold to over 30 countries. In addition to the French production, 1600 AML 60/90 were built under license by South Africa under the name of Eland 60/90.
An armoured personnel carrier (APC) version was also introduced, the Panhard M3. The M3 and the AML share 95% of working parts, encouraging many countries to employ both the M3 and the AML in order to reduce operational costs.

About kit:
Kit quality is terrible and it is a fact.

From the start it was clear that the filler can not be avoided. Slit size of 1 – 1.5 mm, and this amount for the entire model 50 mm. Chassis of model proved even worse. Wheels sticking outside the wheel arches on 2-3mm. Because of the inability to carve 3mm of body,i had to cut the wheel axis. I would generally advise for the ACE company to do a test assembly, so for the sake of interest.

Of improvements made: basket for cans, handles, antenna, fasteners and wheel anthers.

The model was painted with artistic acrylic paint , MIG pigments and artistic oil.

UM(MT) – 404 – Т-26Т+ ACE – 72216 – 10,5 cm leFH 18, 1:72

T-26T – the pre-war Soviet tractor.

History.

According to the adopted “Program tank-tractor weapons the Red Army” was assumed on the basis of the production of tractors tanks.. The project is of such a machine , which received the name of ” Fighter “, was made on the basis of the T -19 in 1930 , but mass production did not go, because the preference was given to a similar car on the chassis of the T -26. In the spring of 1932 at KB Voroshilov plant were developed two projects artillery tractors – one with a canvas top , the other with armored. Both projects were launched in the series in 1933.

Most of these machines have been lost in the first weeks of ’41, along with the other equipment of the Red Army. That’s why I decided to make it a tractor of German howitzers.

The model has been refined. Made the right hitch. Did the stairs in front. Thinning fender. And a little bit of different small parts .At the beginning model has been painted in the ” field green”. Then covered with hairspray, and painted in German gray. Next chipped. Assembling the model has not caused problems.

With howitzer was a bit more of a problem with the assembly. Since this ACE. But a little patience, and as usual the set of “ACE” can get something decent. Howitzer is painted in the same color as the tractor. Some color modulation, pigments and toning oil.

Vignette made of plaster. Grass – Sanitary flax. pillar – toothpick.

12.8 cm Kanone 81(K-81/2), ACE, Finished

12.8 cm Kanone 81(K-81/2) was a German heavy anti-tank gun designed to fight against heavy Soviet tanks like IS-2. The German army had encountered the Russian 122 mm guns and had issued a requirement for a similar weapon. Approximately 50 barrels and breeches were used on existing carriages. The weapon that used the ex-French GPF-T carriage was known as the K 81/1 while the K 81/2 used the ex-Russian A-19/ML-20 carriages with shield and balancing gear removed. the cradle and recoil system were discarded and the 128mm gun was mounted in a ring cradle similar to that used on the 81/1. Another version K 81/2 was also built, in which original Russian equilibrators were retained.

5

I would like to start with the quality of this kit. In the tradition of ACE casting quality is not very good, but this set is not worse or better than other sets of ACE. It will take a lot of patience to clear items from the remains of molds. But it will be rewarded with an excellent model in the end. Kit has a lot of details for this scale. The model can be assembled as in marching and firing position. For marching position provides transport trolley.

3

Model painted as usual with artistic acrylic Polycolor, MIG pigments, and oils. To make the model look more dramatic I painted the carriage in dark red primer. This is typical of the last months of the war, when the equipment could get to the fight not fully colored, because of the grip of time due to the advancing Allied troops. I didn’t much spoil this model with mud, as it did for urban combat. By using this pigment: light dust and concrete.

1/72 ACE 72267 – leSPW auf UNIC P-107 U-304(f)

After the French Campaign during the WW2, the Germans used occupied Vehicles to rebuild them into Vehicles used by the Wehrmacht. One of these Vehicles was the French Unic P 107, a small halftrack which fell in German Hands in huge amounts. The German “Baugruppe Becker” turned these into a small APC, further named “leichter Schützenpanzerwagen (leSPW) auf Unic P-107 U-304 (f). “f” stands for “French”.

Well, the shown Kit is from ACE. It´s the only Modelkit besides several Resinkits of this Vehicle in 20mm. The Parts are not very accurate so it will need some work to let all the Parts fit and get an nice Model. I had to fill several Gaps with Putty and there was very much flash to remove. Last but not least there are some very bad mould lines which have to be removed before assembling the Model.

The Model was painted by using a 5:1 Mix of Vallejo Model Color (70882) “Middlestone” and (70916) “Sand Yellow”. After that i applied an Wash of Citadels “Gryphone Sepia” followed by a Dry-brush with Middlestone. The Green Camouflage pattern was painted with (70891) “Intermediate Green”. I stiffled the Colour on the Base coat by using an old medium soft Brush. For the chippings I used my favourite Colour for these instances (70822) “German Camouflage Black Brown”, which gives really nice chips and blotches.

Vallejo Pigments were used to create Dust and Dirt.

ACE also works other versions from captured P-107.
