28mm – MOM Miniaturas – Scenery – Altar of skulls (Altar de craneos)

Altar of skulls (Altar de craneos)

MOM Miniaturas (in the case some one doesn’t know them yet) is a Spanish brand with a nice (and growing) Fantasy and SCI-FI range in 28mm as well as some bigger bust. If you don’t know their ranges i recommend to take at look at their site.
Their sculpture is very characteristic, you recognize the sculptor hand in every single piece, and prices are good too. They work in resin, casts are clean enough, as always happen with resin some bubble is possible, but they have an exigent quality program, so you shouldn’t receive a bad cast piece never.
I have other pieces at my stash but i decided to paint for first time from this brand a nice Skull’s altar scenery piece. It’s always a pain when the showcase paint from the brand is very good, as is the case. Anyway i’m quite happy with final looking. Nothing very special done, main skull, painted as a stone skull, was done with airbrush. I did a try about use some snow flock as they show, but finally i removed, so base looks as my usual ones. To give it some more area i used an old (virgin)CD as base.
I hope you like this work i did for a friend, and to rest a bit of the large Ottoman commission.

Blood Bowl – High Elfs Team. Mou-Drith CBB

Blood Bowl – High Elfs

Just finished my latest commissioned work, some beautiful minis for a client/friend who allows us to publish them here. A High Elf Blood Bowl team ! (Note: Blood Bowl is a funny Games Workshop game, give it a try !)

Team is formed by 13 minis, although number 13 it’s not numbered here, by client demand, and it haves one Quarterback, 2 Blitzers, 3 Receptors and 7 Line men.

This team is formerly named Mou-Drith CBB, a tribute to Real Madrid C.F by client demand, and because this are painted in a white-black scheme and yellow-black for the Quarterback.

All figures are white metal cast with a good detail level, although some mould marks must be cleaned.

Paint Guide:

The yellow Quarterback is painted with Iyanden Darksun, Regal Blue and Ice blue for lights on black plates. The rest are painted with Astronomican Grey as base and highlighted with a mix of Skull white + Astronomican Grey.

I hope you enjoy these !

GW High Elves

GW High Elves

Something totally different for year’s begin. First time i paint GW minis, and also first time i paint something bigger than 1/72.

I enjoyed a lot painting this, they are from my cousin (ten years younger), i took them this Christmas but i forget to pick up a shield for the infantry man…

There is a notable size difference against 1/72, i have used some tutorials at GW site, i make some mistakes with shield and lance of the horse man, so much better result can be achieved with those items, but finally i’m more or less gladded with result. They look fine for me, thinking it’s my first time. The worst, these high elves have a lot of white, which is one of the colours i’m always afraid to use and never get a good result.
I felt the temptation to paint the whole boxes, but i have some many pending work with 1/72… i wasted three days painting these ones (about 10 hours, including time looking the tutorials) i first paint the infantry man, after this, everything gone quickly.

Size differences are also remarkable taking pictures, although this is also because my cam isn’t very good to take close to 1/72, but enough for this ones as pictures shows.

For first time i was capable to paint eyes (i know, they are not great eyes.. but)… still i think i can’t done on 1/72…
I will appreciate any comment from an experienced painter with GW minis… !!

Best regards.
