Marston Mat, officially known as Pierced Steel Planking (PSP), was a type of portable steel runway used extensively by the U.S. military during World War II. It was designed for rapid construction of airstrips, particularly in remote or undeveloped areas, allowing aircraft to operate from makeshift airfields in combat zones.

Named after the town of Marston, North Carolina, where it was first manufactured, the steel planks featured distinctive perforations and slots, which reduced weight and allowed for drainage in muddy or sandy conditions. The sections could be quickly assembled by interlocking them, creating stable surfaces for aircraft, vehicles, and even roads. While PSP was widely used in the Pacific and European theaters, it remained in use well beyond WWII, seeing service in Korea, Vietnam, and other military operations. Its rugged, modular design also led to post-war civilian applications in construction and temporary roadways.

Box contains four plates to build up a Marston Mat with 127 х 256mm dimensions. A good addition for those who love to build up nice displays for their aircraft models.
