Description:

Artillery of Charles XII

Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting Swedish artillery during the “Great Northern War” (1700-1721) under the reign of Charles XII.

Box contains 24 figures in 24 different poses and 2 guns.

The weak part of this set are the guns, to start by, they are exactly same guns included in the Russian counter-part (Strelets – 042 – Artillery of Peter I) and they are very simplified models, which pale when compared to the excellent work done by Zvezda in both artillery sets for the period, Zvezda – 8066 – Swedish Artillery of Charles XII and Zvezda – 8058 – Russian Artillery of Peter the Great, both outstanding sets. Strelets tooled this set in 2005, while Zvezda did their later in 2010. For 5 years this set was a really good option and a fresh wind for the period.

If not because the Zvezda work on the same topic, and left the guns behind, this is a quite good set, with 24 different poses which are a generous offer, and in fact, both sets are compatible in size, and our suggestion is to add the crew of the Strelets set to the excellent Zvezda guns, to add more variety and some really nice pose than you can take from this set. In addition, Strelets depicts the crew men in a much more irregular uniform, which is always acceptable for men working hard to load the guns, while Zvezda, made all the figures to fit regulation. The combination of both sets will just produce and awesome Swedish battery for the Great Northern War.
