ESCI – 231 – World War II Commonwealth Infantry

In 1986 ESCI had a not very brilliant idea, using set ESCI – 200 – World War II British Soldiers as base, they tooled 3 new poses and modified the original mold to create this set with 10 new figures in 3 poses, reducing number of figures of the original poses and eliminating one of the poses of the original set. The new poses, with the very distinctive slouch hat are aimed to depict Australian troops.

With this as base, the result never would have been great, but to worse things the new “Australian” figures can’t be seen during the conflict with such appearance almost never. Australian troops fought in North Africa and then in the Pacific theater. In Africa they quickly received a summer uniform, and in the Pacific theater uniform was a totally different one. The same exercise but done with ESCI – 207 – World War II British 8th Army Soldiers would have end in a better result.

Detail and sculpture of the figures is very good as ESCI always did, with poses not great in particular but correct.
