HaT – 8161 – WWI French 75mm Cannon (with Late War Crew)

Description:

Unassembled and unpainted figures in 1/72 scale depicting a French World War I 75mm Cannon (Canon de 75 modèle 1897) which was the main field 75mm gun during the great war and is considered as the first modern cannon, being the first field gun to include a hydro-pneumatic recoil mechanism. The Canon de 75 modèle 1897 was widely exported and used after war too and during the war was issued to many different roles as mounted anti-aircraft gun or the primary gun for fire toxic gas.

This box includes 48 figures in 8 different poses, 4 guns and 4 munitions caissons. The set offers a crew of 6 men per gun (in only 4 poses) plus an officer, the gun itself is made of just 5 parts, with common simplifications and common odds if compared to a hard plastic model. Together with the crew and the gun, the set offers the munitions caisson, composed of six parts and with option to show the munition compartment open or closed with just a bit of glue. Lastly the set offers another 3 mounted poses (24 figures) as if the gun and the crew were in transport mode, but surprise, the box doesn’t offer horses and limber for such a task, and sadly, though scheduled, HäT never released that set. Disappointing.

The last interesting fact here, is that guns in this set are also intended to be used by set Hät – 8162 – WWII French Artillery Crew, which only includes the crew and new wheels for the gun (only four wheels for two guns), and again include mounted figures but no horses or limber. Set Hät – 8159 – WWI French Artillery Crew (Early) is also intended to use these guns, tooled in a similar way, and again without horses or limber.
