HäT – 8334 – Napoleonic Hungarian Infantry (Marching)

Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting Hungarian infantry during the Napoleonic Wars.

This (and the related HäT series of Hungarian releases) is the first specifically Hungarian set for the Napoleonic Wars in the 1/72 scale hobby. The Austro-Hungarian empire was a vast and multinational empire where usually two main blocks are addressed on terms of its army during the Napoleonic Wars. The “German” regiments, which had a better coverage in the hobby, and the “Hungarian” regiments, including also troops from Croatia, Serbia and Transylvania, the east part of the empire.

Hungarian troops wear low boots and have braid on their trousers, as main and simplified difference with the “German” troops.  Colors are white and blue as can be seen in the box cover.

In other occasions HäT included different heads to address different types of infantry, sadly not here. Same figures but wearing bearskins helmets would have turn into Hungarian Grenadiers, but only the shako option is provided.

Box contains 40 foot figures in just 4 different marching poses. There is not too much room for imagination on a just “marching” poses sets. The four poses selected do their job.

All the figures wear shakos and the back-packs and tools are separated pieces attached to the back of the figure by a simple peg-and-hole mechanism.
