Strelets – 274 – Bavarian Infantry in square

Description:

Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting Bavarian infantry during the Napoleonic wars, in a selection of poses suitable to build up a square formation holding a cavalry charge. Though initially a small electorate, Bavaria become the second largest state of the German Empire. During the Napolenic Wars, initially Bavaria joined the French side, but after the disastrous 1812 Russian campaign where Bavaria lost up to 30.000 men, they switched side at the time of the 1813 Battle of Leipzig. Bavarian troops at the time were very distinguishable by the helmet with a fore-and-aft horsehair plume and the light blue color of the uniform.

Box contains 43 nicely sculpted figures in 19 different poses. The box composition is a main sprue repeated three times, with 12 figures in 12 poses and a special sprue with 7 unique figures including several casualties. Proportions are very good too and the poses, though not particularly outstanding are useful for their purpose.
