Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a British WWI Royal Aircraft Factory BE2c.

The Royal Aircraft Factory BE2c’s stability made it an excellent choice for home defense as a night fighter. On September 3, 1916, it achieved a historic milestone by downing the first German airship over Britain, an act that earned pilot Lt. William Leefe Robinson the Victoria Cross.

Designed primarily for reconnaissance over the Western Front, the BE2c allowed its crew to gather crucial battlefield intelligence with ease. Its docile handling enabled straight and level flight with minimal pilot input.

However, as German fighter technology advanced, the BE2c’s stability became a fatal flaw, leading to heavy combat losses. Yet, in a home defense role, this very characteristic became an asset, enabling successful engagements against German airships, which the British public viewed as “Baby Killers.”

Kit consists of 54 plastic parts and decal sheet include two markings, kit was originally tooled in 2016 and reissued in 2025.
