Aoshima – Aircraft Series No.10 – Ta152H-0 Focke-Wulf

The Focke-Wulf Ta 152H-0 was a pre-production high-altitude interceptor variant of the Focke-Wulf Ta 152, developed in late 1944 as part of Germany’s efforts to counter Allied bombers and escort fighters. It was based on the Fw 190D but heavily modified with an extended wingspan for improved high-altitude performance. Powered by the Jumo 213E-1 engine with an MW-50 water-methanol injection system, the Ta 152H could achieve speeds of around 750 km/h (466 mph) at 12,500 meters (41,000 feet), making it one of the fastest piston-engine fighters of the war. It was armed with a 30mm MK 108 cannon in the nose and two 20mm MG 151/20 cannons in the cowling, giving it formidable firepower.

The main differences between the H-0 pre-production model and the H-1 production version were minor but crucial. The H-0 used pre-existing Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 airframes, modified to test the new high-altitude configuration, while the H-1 was fully optimized for production with structural reinforcements, improved fuel capacity, and slight modifications to aerodynamics. Externally the different hatches on the underside of the main wing was one of the main differences between H-0 and production H-1.

This an original Aoshima kit tooled in 1995 and got its box updated last time in 2024. The kit was also widely released and modified under Kora Models brand. Cockpit can be placed open or closed and include one seated pilot figure. Decal sheet include three different markings.
