Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a German WWII fighter aircraft Messerschmitt Bf 109 variant G-6 (Gustav series) fitted with a rocket launcher WGr.21 (Werfer-Granate 21) formally know as BR 21.

The WGr.21 was developed in 1943, derived from the 21cm Nebelwerfer 42 infantry rocket launcher. The usual configuration for single engine fighters as the Bf 109 was one disposable launcher under each wing. The launcher affected to aircraft aerodynamics and maneuverability and due the low speed of the rockets they had a poor accuracy. The mount was angled 15º up and detonation was pre-configured to a 600m – 1200m, with a blast area of around 30 meters.

The kit is variant of previous AZ Model Bf 109G-6 with new parts for the rocket launchers and include a decal sheet with three German markings dated 1943. Two of the markings are for Bf 109G-6/R2, a reconnaissance variant of the G-6 that also mounted the MW 50 injection system, injecting a mix of methanol and water (50% each) in the supercharger bringing a super boost for around 10 minutes due the double effect of the mix, cooling the engine and allowing the supercharger to run at higher boost.

Note that the box states to include AZ Model – AZ7860 – German Luftwaffe Weapons set and Accessories kit, which adds the new parts for the WGr.21 as well as other weapons options.
