AZ Model – AZ7874 – Bf 109T-2 “Toni over the North Sea”

Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a German WWII fighter aircraft Messerschmitt Bf 109 T-2 variant, suffix ‘T’ denotes Träger (carrier) in German use, as the T series were intended to be carrier borne. There was not specific airframe for the T series, instead aircrafts from B, C and E series were converted adding a tail-hook, catapult fittings and increasing the wingspan to 11.08 m (36.35 ft). The ailerons were increased in span, as were the slats, and flap travel was increased too.

Performance of the T-2 series was similar to E-4/N series (using DB601N high altitude engine) but with capabilities for a shorten take off/landing, and that’s the reason for why they were deployed to Norway where landing strips were usually short. T-2 has not tail-hook or catapult fittings equipment and was armed with two 7.92mm MG 17s above the engine and one 20mm MG FF/M cannon in each wing.

AZ Model updates their Messerschmitt Bf 109 E series with new parts for longer wings and no other change as far as we know. Kit includes decal sheet with three markings, dated 1941 at Norway.
