Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a Japanese WWII Kyushu J7W Shinden, a prototype fighter aircraft featuring rear-mounted wings, a nose-mounted canard, and a pusher engine propeller driven.

Conceived by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) to serve as a short-range, land-based interceptor, the J7W was a direct response to the Boeing B-29 Superfortress raids targeting the Japanese home islands. Designed for interception missions, the J7W was intended to be equipped with four forward-firing 30 mm Type 5 cannons mounted in the nose. Only two prototypes were build.

J7W2 as Hasegawa depicts in the kit, stands for a jet powered variant of the J7W that never was materialized.

Update of kit Hasegawa – 00450 (D20) – KYUSHU J7W1 18-SHI INTERCEPTOR FIGHTER SHINDEN with new parts for the jet powered variant, and a new decal sheet which include 3 markings, all of them fictional, one of them for a German Luftwaffe marking.
