Italeri – 1472 – Reggiane Re.2002 Ariete

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of an Italian WWII fighter aircraft Reggiane Re.2002 Ariete, a further modification of the Reggiane Re.2000 including some modifications also seen on the Reggiane Re.2001. The three variants shared many parts and design as well as many of the kits depicting them share between the different variants. The Re.2002 was introduced in service in 1942 and around 225 units built. Performance problems with the engine relegated the aircraft to just an attack aircraft, rather than the initial attack-fighter inteded role.

This kit in particular was first time released in 1971, and till now, 2024, the old Italaerei kit had not been reissued. The molds has been reworked and there are some differences with the original release. For example in the original release there was a clear parts stand for display, not included now, and canopy, included the rear part of the fuselage behind the canopy, all tooled in clear plastic (as can be seen in Italeri – 1272 – REGGIANE RE.2000 GA). This new mold include a plastic part for the that fuselage behind the canopy, and the canopy is now just the two forward clear parts.

The kit is completed with a new decal sheet including 4 markings, one of them under German Luftwaffe.
