The Zlín Z-43 is a light aircraft developed in Czechoslovakia by Moravan Otrokovice (today known as Zlín Aircraft). Introduced in the late 1960s, the Z-43 was designed primarily for training, tourism, and utility work, like aerial photography, glider towing, and liaison duties. It evolved from the successful Zlín Z-42, but the Z-43 has a wider, four-seat cabin instead of the Z-42’s two-seat configuration, making it more practical for passenger transport and longer missions.

The Z-43 is a low-wing monoplane with a sturdy, fixed tricycle landing gear, making it very easy to operate from unprepared fields. It is powered by a six-cylinder Avia M 337 engine producing around 210 horsepower, giving it good performance for its size — cruising at about 220 km/h (135 mph) with a range of roughly 1,000 km (620 miles). Like many Czech-designed aircraft, the Z-43 is known for its reliability, rugged construction, and excellent handling characteristics, qualities that made it quite popular in Eastern Europe and in flying clubs around the world.

The Z-43 was far less successful than previous Z-42 and few units were built. It also was produced under license in Algeria as Safir-43. The kit offers one marking for an Algerian aircraft. The other markings included (up to 4) are for Hungarian, East Germany and Czechoslovak aircrafts. New tool in 2025.
