Description:
Bartini Beriev VVA-14
The Bartini Beriev VVA-14 (abbreviation for vertical take-off amphibious aircraft) was an innovative wing-in-ground-effect plane, developed in the USSR during the 1970s. It was designed to be able to take-off from the water and to fly just above the sea surface at high speeds, using aerodynamic ground effect. The VVA-14 has conducted 107 flights and had a good perspective, but Bartini’s death in 1974 led to the closure of entire project.
