The kit is a modern tooling that offers a strong blend of detail, options, and modeling enjoyment. With 116 injection-molded parts, it delivers finely engraved panel lines and crisp surface detail, alongside a flexible build configuration that allows for open or closed canopy, extended or retracted speed brakes, and deployable refueling probe. It’s clear Revell aimed for realism and versatility here.

The cockpit assembly is particularly noteworthy: comprised of eight parts including a decent ejection seat and cockpit tub, with raised consoles and panel details that discourage the need for instrument-panel decals (though Revell does include decals for added enhancement) . Landing gear, speed brake wells, and wheel wells are well-formed, and the kit even gives you the option to model the nozzle open or closed.

Where the model really shines is in its ordinance loadout and external fit. Inside the box you get AIM‑9 Sidewinder, AIM‑120 AMRAAM, IRIS-T, Saab RBS‑15 anti-ship missiles, drop tanks, and a reconnaissance pod pylon—quite generous for a 1:72 kit. That said, a few small issues are worth noting. Several builders mention flash on smaller parts (though this isn’t widespread), and there’s a visible seam in the canopy that, happily, mirrors the real aircraft canopy’s design. Intake openings are unlined internally, meaning you can see through them into the hollow fuselage—many modelers fill or blank those off. The kit’s assembly requires careful dry-fitting, especially along fuselage and wing joints, to avoid gaps or misalignment
