Description:
Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a Swedish SAAB J/A-21 fighter and ground attack aircraft.
The SAAB J-21A, originally developed with a piston DB605 engine during WW2, underwent a post-war transformation when it was redesigned and equipped with a jet engine. This evolution gave rise to the J-21R variant, marking the inception of Sweden’s first jet aircraft. Notably, the Vampire Mk.I preceded it as the initial jet-powered aircraft in Swedish skies (refer to 1/72 scale kit SH72339 DH.100 Vampire Mk.I ‘The First Jet Guardians of Neutrality’). The SAAB J-21R served as a fighter plane, while its ground attack counterpart, designated A-21R, had the capability to carry unguided missile projectiles or a machine gun pod beneath the fuselage. The model kit comprises three styrene sprues, one with clear parts, along with etched and resin components.
Kit includes both PE (photo-etched) and resin detail parts. Decal sheet contains 3 different Swedish markings.
This kit is mainly a re-decal of the previous releases for the same topic.
