The Focke-Wulf Fw 187A-0 Falke was a twin-engine, twin-seat heavy fighter developed in Germany during the late 1930s. Designed by Kurt Tank, the Fw 187 was conceived as a long-range, high-performance interceptor intended to outclass single-engine fighters of the era. The aircraft featured a sleek, modern airframe with a narrow fuselage, and early prototypes demonstrated exceptional speed—reaching over 520 km/h (323 mph)—making it one of the fastest fighters in Germany at the time of its development. Its power came from two Daimler-Benz DB 600 engines in early versions, later upgraded to Junkers Jumo 210s in the pre-production A-0 models.

Despite its promise, the Fw 187A-0 never entered mass production. The Luftwaffe favored single-engine fighters like the Bf 109 and viewed the heavy fighter concept as redundant, especially with the twin-engine Bf 110 already in service. Only a handful of A-0 models were built, mainly used for testing, evaluation, and occasional factory defense duties. Nonetheless, the Fw 187 demonstrated remarkable agility and speed for a twin-engine design, and its limited service hinted at its potential had strategic priorities been different. Today, the Falke remains a fascinating “what-if” in WWII aviation history.

This is a revamp of an old (2003) Special Hobby kit, not reissued since then. Plastic parts are quite basic, but this time kit is released enhanced with 3D printed parts, resin cast parts and also include PE (photo-etched) parts, making it a kit not suitable for beginners. Decal sheet include 3 different markings.
