Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. Grumman A-6 Intruder carrier borne attack aircraft.

Variant of kit Trumpeter – 01641 – A-6E Intruder. From 1970 onwards all A-6Es were fitted with the AN/AAS-33 DRS (Detecting and Ranging Set), part of the ‘Target Recognition and Attack Multi-Sensor’ (TRAM) system, adding a small gyroscopically stabilized turret under the nose of the aircraft, containing a forward-looking infra-red (FLIR) boresighted with a laser spot-tracker/designator and IBM AN/ASQ-155 computer, lot of new avionics for the A-6Es.

The under nose turret is the most distinguishable change in the model kit which still retains payload options from the 01641 – A-6E kit, considered not a good depiction of the real things by most of the modeler community.

Decal sheet include two markings, one for the U.S. Navy and one for the U.S. Marine Corps.
