Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. Boeing CH-47 Chinook heavy transport helicopter in a British variant HC.1, the first in saw service with RAF in the early 80s.

The CH-47 Chinook is a tandem-rotor helicopter introduced in the U.S. service during 60s. UK fleet is the second largest one and remain in service (Upgraded variants, not the HC.1).

Newly tooled kit in 2024, kit consists of 171 plastic parts and includes a decal sheet with two markings, one for the Falklands war (1982) and the other for the Dessert Storm operation in 1991. This kit replaces the older Airfix Chinook kits which was coming from Italeri molds.

The Falklands marking has an interesting story behind it, the marking is for the “Bravo November”, RAF Chinook ZA718, and it was the only survivor of the four Chinook deployed by RAF to the conflict. The vessel transporting the helicopters, the HMS Conveyor, was hit by an Exocet missile, the “Bravo November” was out on service and was the only survivor, while the other three Chinook were lost in the action.
