Playset model box, combination of several plastic model kits and figures in 1/72 scale previously released by Italeri plus a new MDF laser cut building depicting the Hartenstein Hotel, during the 1944 Operation Market Garden in the Arnhem sector.

Without doubt, the hotel building is the main piece of the set, by it’s size and because it’s the only new item you will find in this box. These buildings are good option for gamers, allowing a quick set up of big buildings to build big scenarios and the subject chosen here for sure will like to many. The Hartenstein Hotel was the headquarters of the British 1st Airborne Division during the Battle of Arnhem. It’s well know the fate of the British 1st Airborne Division, after 9 days of intense battle holding a bridgehead north of the Rhine in Arnhem the Division had to withdrawn leaving behind wounded and many casualties. Just around 2000 men out of 10000 composing the division were able to cross the Rhine to the south.

The building of the Hotel was heavily damaged during the battle but nowadays it’s restored and an Airborne Museum ‘Hartenstein’ devoted to the Battle of Arnhem. You can learn more about this emplacement in the Wikipedia and the Museum page.

The history of the battle, the hotel and the MDF building, are much more exciting than rest of the box content, which is composed of a full copy of the really old ESCI German troops (ESCI – 201 – World War II German Soldiers) and ESCI British Paratroopers (ESCI – 208 – World War II British Paratroopers), one Willys Jeep, fast assembly type, from the Italeri line (1 vehicle from Italeri – 7506 – Willys Jeep 1/4 ton 4×4), one StuG III, also fast assembly type by Italeri (1 vehicle from Italeri – 7522 – STURMGESCHÜTZ III (FAST ASSEMBLY)) and a copy of the Battlefield buildings (Italeri – 6130 – Battlefield Buildings). The box include also a new decal sheet with markings for the vehicles, the buildings as well as the Hotel itself.
