Description:

The Striver (Fen-Dou-Zhe) bathyscaphe is a deep-submergence vehicle constructed in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). Capable of accommodating three crew members, it is specifically designed to explore depths exceeding 10,000 meters. The Striver is equipped with two mechanical arms, seven underwater cameras, seven sonars, hydraulic drills, and various other scientific instruments.

On November 10, 2020, the Striver successfully reached the bottom of the Challenger Deep with three Chinese scientists, Zhang Wei, Zhao Yang, and Wang Zhiqiang, on board. The descent was livestreamed, revealing a reported depth of 10,909 meters.
