Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a German WWII Antitank Ferdinand.

The Sd.Kfz. 184 Ferdinand, later redesignated as Elefant, was a formidable German tank destroyer used during World War II. Built on the chassis of the Tiger (P) prototype, this heavy tank destroyer was specifically designed for long-range anti-tank engagements on the Eastern Front. Armed with the powerful 8.8 cm Pak 43/2 L/71 gun—the same gun later used on the Tiger II—the Ferdinand boasted exceptional armor penetration capabilities.

Introduced during the Battle of Kursk in 1943, the Ferdinand initially faced mechanical challenges but showcased its effectiveness against Soviet tanks when deployed properly. The vehicle featured thick frontal armor, making it well-suited for defensive operations. Despite its initial mechanical issues and limited mobility, the Ferdinand earned a reputation as a formidable tank destroyer during its service on the Eastern Front. Later modifications and improvements led to the Elefant variant, which saw action in subsequent engagements on the Eastern and Italian fronts.

Update of the old kit Dragon – 7202 – Sd.Kfz. 184 “Ferdinand” tooled in 2003, replacing the old single piece rubber tracks by link-and-length type tracks. Includes decal sheet with one single marking for the battle of Kursk 1943.
