Description:

Pz. IV SPG “Hummel”

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a German WWII self propelled gun Hummel, build over a modified Panzer IV chassis (Geschützwagen III/IV chassis), fitting a powerful 15 cm sFH 18 L/30 in an open superstructure.

This kit was tooled in 1974, though you could think it shares parts with the ESCI Panzer IV kit, it does not.

The kit is basically accurate in measures and shape, but almost everything on it is not greatly detailed, starting by the single piece double width wheels, poor return rollers, pioneer tools molded into hull, as well as tow cable, and basic detailed gun and spartan detail in the fighting compartiment.

The early ESCI releases includes single piece tracks, ugly and very hard to work. The ESCI-Ertl releases includes some better link and length tracks.

Dragon and Revell both produces better depictions of the Sd.Kfz 165 Hummel in 1/72 scale.
