Description:

The Challenger 1 was the British Army’s main battle tank from 1983 until its replacement by the Challenger 2 in the late 1990s. Developed from the Iranian Shir 2 project, it featured advanced Chobham composite armor, offering superior protection compared to traditional steel armor. Armed with a 120mm L11A5 rifled gun, the Challenger 1 demonstrated exceptional firepower and accuracy. Notably, during the 1991 Gulf War, it achieved a record by destroying an Iraqi T-55 tank at a distance of 4.1 kilometers. Despite its strengths, the Challenger 1 had limitations in its fire control systems, leading to its eventual replacement. After decommissioning, many units were sold to Jordan, where they were upgraded and served under the name “Al-Hussein” until their retirement in 2023.

Kit offers a detailed representation of this iconic tank. Tooled in 2011, the kit comprises 129 parts across six sprues. It features intricate details, including a well-molded turret and hull, and provides decals for various British Army units. The kit is suitable for mid to advanced modelers. Is a reissue with new decals of Revell – 03183 – British Main Battle Tank CHALLENGER I. The new decal sheet include two markings, for 17/21 Lancers (BOAR) and Bosnia-Herzegovina 1996.
