Description:

The Sd.Kfz. 2 Kettenkrad was a unique German half-track vehicle used during World War II, originally designed as a lightweight transport for airborne troops. Combining elements of a motorcycle and a tracked vehicle, the Kettenkrad featured a front steering wheel for initial directional control, while its tracked system provided excellent traction on rough terrain. Powered by an Opel Olympia 1.5L engine, it was capable of reaching speeds up to 70 km/h, making it one of the fastest tracked vehicles of the war. Its agility and small size allowed it to maneuver in tight spaces where traditional vehicles struggled, making it invaluable for tasks such as towing equipment, laying cables, and even acting as an aircraft tug for the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter.

The Infanteriekarren IF.8 was a small, two-wheeled utility cart designed to be towed by either a soldier or a vehicle, including the Kettenkrad. It was primarily used by German infantry to transport supplies, ammunition, and other essential equipment across the battlefield. The IF.8 could be attached in pairs to a Kettenkrad, extending its cargo capacity significantly. Some variations were adapted to carry heavier loads, while others were modified for use as an improvised troop transport in emergency situations. Though simple in design, the IF.8 proved to be a reliable and versatile logistical tool that supported German operations in multiple theaters of war.

Update of kit S-Model – PS720080 – Sd.Kfz. 2 “Kettenkrad” with new parts for the IF.8 cart or trailer. The box contains 2 full models, two Sd.Kfz.2 and two carts. Kit still contains some PE (photo-etched) parts and builds into nice Kettenkrads.
