Vidalwagen “V-2 road transporter”

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a German WWII Vidalwagen V-2 rocket transport cart, one of the two transport carts needed on the mobile launch operation of the V-2. The Videlwagen was used to transport the V-2 from the railhead to the field stores and then again to the firing troop transfer point, where it was loaded then into a Meillerwagen transport (see Special Armour – SA72012 – Meillerwagen V2 Transporter).

This set was released when the V2 models where available in other series not of Special Armour, such was the Condor ones. Nowadays it has more sense, since company has released the best coverage for the V-2 rocket in 1/72 scale, not only with the rockets themselves but a huge list of related develops as stated below.

This set works together with Special Armour – SA72003 – A4/V2 Rocket or Special Armour – SA72014 – A4/V2 Prototypes and Special Armour – SA72001 – SS-100 Gigant “Schwerer Radschlepper/ Heavy Tractor” to create an V-2 transport unit, exactly the same than Revell did releasing Revell – 03310 – SS-100 Gigant + Transporter + V2, a much more clever approach. To close the V-2 coverage by Special Armour also Special Armour – SA72015 – A-Stoffanhänger (Liquid Oxygen tank for V2 Rocket) needs to be considered.

It worth to read if you are thinking about recreate a full launch site, thought sadly, some of the vehicles required are not in the 1/72 scale.
