Sturmhaubitze 42 Ausf.G with Saukopf mantle

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a German WWII assault gun Sturmhaubitze 42 (StuH 42), a develop of the StuG III, fitted with a variant of the 10.5 cm leFH 18 gun, with muzzle brake and modified to be fired electrically. Initial prototypes were built from StuG III F but production series used the StuG III G chassis. Around 1300 units were produced in total.

The Saukopf (Pig’s head) mantlet was introduced in late 1943, officially named Topfblende, cast, sloped and rounded shape, with a better performance deflecting shots. Initially it had no coaxial machine gun but it was added from October 1944.

Kit consists of 181 plastic parts, includes PE detail parts. Tracks are link and length type and decal sheet includes 3 markings.
