Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a German WWII medium tank Panzer III, Ausf. G variant.

The Panzer III was a medium tank design available since mid 30s and at the outbreak of the WWII. It was produced in large quantities and upgraded till 1943, and beyond that, it’s reliable chassis or the hybrid Panzer III/IV chassis, were the basis for the popular Sturmgeschütz III, which was produced in larger quantities than the Panzer III.

Ausf.G variant was introduced in 1940/41, it was based on the previous F variant but adding extra armor in the gun mantlet. As the Ausf. F, the first mass produced variant, the late Ausf. G production models were fitted with the 5cm KwK 38 L/42 as main gun, a gun that soon would be phased out with the advance of the armor during the war. Over 500 tanks were produced of this variant.

UM has already produced a large number of Panzer III variants, this kit share some parts with the previous releases and consists of 184 plastic parts plus 25 PE (photo-etched) detail parts. All the UM Panzer III series feature link-and-length tracks type with a quite high number of parts. The kits are considered correct and well detailed but not recommended for beginners.
