UM (UniModel) – 469 – T72 Gun Motor Carriage

Description:

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. WWII tank destroyer T72 a design attempt to upgrade the M10 tank destroyer series with the new M1 76mm gun, using the M10A1 hull and chassis with a new open top turret derived from the turret designed for the T23 tank. Two prototypes were build and tested but project was dismissed in favor of the  T70/ M18 Hellcat.

Kit reuses chassis from the M10 Tank Destroyer kits released by UM (see related kits below) and adds new parts for the turret. Tracks are link-and-length type and this part of the kit, together with wheels and suspension is the more complex part of the kit, not recommended for beginners. Kit also include some PE (photo-etched) detail parts.
