Airfix – A03383 – Pontoon Bridge (& Pontoon Bridge Assault Set)

Description:

Original Airfix kit from 1970, depicting a simplified version of the British WWII Bailey bridge over pontoons. The Bailey bridge was a very successful engineering that remain in use nowdays.

The set was released as stand alone (first time in 1970) and also issued as a playset (1971 and 1976) issued with figures (German infantry 1st type) and British Commandoes (1st type too) plus several plastic tanks (Airfix first generation, soft plastic vehicles line) and some accessories.

The bridge itself, contains two segments of bridge plus two access ramps for each side, and five pontoons. Though a simplified model, can be worked into a decent result, and modelers have been using it for decades since the 70s.
