Description:

The Basler BT-67 is a modernized and extensively upgraded version of the legendary Douglas DC-3, designed and produced by Basler Turbo Conversions in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Rather than being a simple restoration, the BT-67 is a complete remanufacturing project. Original DC-3 airframes are stripped down and rebuilt with structural reinforcements, modern avionics, and, most notably, a pair of Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-67R turboprop engines replacing the classic piston engines. This conversion gives the aircraft better performance, reliability, and operational flexibility while retaining the iconic shape and rugged qualities of the DC-3.

The BT-67 has a longer fuselage compared to the original DC-3, additional fuel capacity, and updated wings and control surfaces. These upgrades allow it to carry heavier payloads, operate from shorter and rougher airstrips, and fly in challenging weather conditions. Its range, speed, and fuel efficiency are improved, making it ideal for operations in remote or harsh environments.

Many BT-67s are used by military and government agencies for roles like cargo transport, surveillance, and scientific research. A well-known operator is the United States Air Force, which uses it under the designation C-47TP for missions such as Arctic and Antarctic support. The aircraft has also been employed in firefighting, aerial survey work, and humanitarian missions thanks to its ability to land where many modern aircraft cannot.

Variation of kit A&A Models – 7242 – Basler BT-67 with new parts to fit skies on wheels. The kit include a decal sheet with 3 markings, one for the Cargo North, Canadian air line, dated 2015 and two markings for the Alfred Wegener Institute from Germany, dated 2015 and 2020.
