Iwo-Jima Marines Landing

Figures and accessories kit in 1/72 scale, depicting the iconic photography of the WWII showing the U.S. Marine Corps raising a U.S. flag in Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima. The photography was taken in February 23, 1945 by Joe Rosenthal and later was used as base for the Marine Corps War Memorial in 1954 located at Arlington Ridge Park.

The photography is not exempt of polemic as it actually was the second flag raising at Suribachi that day, and confusion with the identity of some of the six soldiers raising the flag was hold up to 2016. Of the six men, three were killed in action during the Iwo Jima battle.

This box contains 6 figures on 6 different poses, a small display base, flag pole and a flag decal, all in hard plastic. While the composition of the scene is quite good, the cast of the figures themselves is not so good, considerably reducing the quality of the set.

In 1989 The box was updated to code number 8353 and title changed to Iwo Jima Memorial with same content.
