Orion – 72070 – US infantry in Vietnam (middle war)

Description:

Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam during the mid stages of the war. While in the release of Orion – 72068 – USMC in Vietnam (early war) was easy to understand what Orion wanted to mean, with absence of M16s in the weapons and the presence of the M14 instead, a “mid” term is more complex to isolate in the Vietnam War timeline, considering that U.S. soldiers were deployed to Vietnam just from 1965 to 1973. Here the M16 is the main weapon present.

The box include 43 figures in 13 poses, what suggests a two different sprue, one of them with some command figures. As with the previous set, this one is a nice expansion of the options that for decades only had the old ESCI sets and the lonely Pegasus set. Differences between the U.S. Infantry and the USMC in Vietnam are little and hard to spot in 1/72 scale.
