Osman Yeniçeri Infantry 16-17 century

Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting the feared Janissaries (Yeniçeri), the elite and permanent Ottoman army for centuries.

This box contains 34 figures  in 14 poses in a three equal sprue with ten different figures each plus a command unique sprue with four unique figures format.

Sculpture and detail is very good, the poses are a mix of weapons, all correct, where muskets, with five poses are the majority. Two pole weapons, two swordsman and one archer completes the troop. The command is composed of three officers very nicely sculpted and one standard bearer. Though the sculpture and detail is very good, the moulding didn’t work so good as in other occasions by the brand and some more flash and mould lines than desired are present.

In our opinion, as the brand did for other topics, a so important one as the Janissaries would have required more than one single set, as number of poses for archers, swordsman and pole arms is too limitee in this format.

The sets belong to a larger series giving great coverage to the Ottoman Empire.
