Box contains 32 figures in 8 poses, a four equal sprues format which causes some odds in the set, as you get four times Cardinal Richelieu himself as well as four times Milady de Winter and to end four times Rochefort. All of this is too much.

The guards themselves are all nicely done, as all the figures mentioned above, though all the poses are more novelistic and cinematographic inspiration rather than historical, with the exception of the pose standing with musket.

Ultima Ratio changed the King’s Musketeers set was updated after release, converting it into a more historical and useful set without lost also the novelistic inspiration, but the Cardinal’s Guard hasn’t been reworked the same way, which is a pity, because figures, sculpture, detail and mould are pretty good.
